We offer live-aboard fishing charters as well as day fishing charters around the waters of Zanzibar, Pemba Island and the famous Pemba Channel!

 

Zanzibar / Pemba Fishing Seasons

• The Fishing Seasons take place with the Tuna season running from August to October.

• Large Tuna can reach up to 100 kg’s, with many schools of 50 kg Tuna still migrating through our waters.

• The Tuna are followed by the big Marlin. Large Black and Blue Marlin are caught in September till December whilst our main Striped Marlin season runs from December through to March.

• Furthermore, our Billfish season for Marlin and Sailfish runs from November till March.

• Of course, in between, the Game Fish are always there.

• Additionally, September produces some fantastic Wahoo fishing as well as February and March.

Zanzibar Big Game Fishing Charters

Billfish such as Striped, Black and Blue Marlin, the acrobatic and dazzling Sailfish and elusive Shortbill Spearfish abound in these crystal waters! Now let’s not forget the Broadbill Swordfish! The “Gladiator of the Seas”! This fish will test the stamina of any angler to the limit! Yellowfin tuna, Dorado, Wahoo, Barracuda, Kingfish (Trevally), King & Queen Mackerel and the lesser game fish such as Bonito tuna, Skipjack tuna and Rainbow Runner provide endless hours of adrenalin filled Game Fishing action out on the water!
 

Leven Bank Fishing Charters

Leven Bank lies just 5 miles north of our base here in Nungwi. Furthermore, the drop-offs and deep blue waters east of the Mnemba Island Atoll lie about 12 miles south east of us. Then of course the Zanzibar Channel lies just west of Nungwi.
 

Pemba Island Fishing Charters

The big game fishing in the Pemba channel is as good as it gets! There are no less than 6 varieties of Billfish in the Pemba Channel, huge sharks (Mako, Tiger, Thresher and Hammerhead to name a few), Tuna, large Wahoo, King Mackerel, Dorado, Barracuda, Giant Trevally, Dogtooth Tuna plus many others.

Furthermore, close to shore along the west coast, immediately off Pemba’s beaches, regular catches of lesser Game Fish species include Rainbow Runners, Bonito, Skipjack, King Mackerel, Barracuda and Wahoo.

Additionally, in peak Marlin season, the billfish and tunas move right up to the coast line making Pemba very interesting for fishing enthusiasts.
 

Mafia Island Fishing Charters

Because of the Marine Park in and around the Chole Bay area, we fish mostly the north and north east areas as well as the south east areas of Mafia Island. The fishing in these areas and down to Okuza Island is widely regarded as some of the best fishing opportunities in East Africa! The virtually unfished expanses of water off shore in this deep sea crescent of Mafia offer all the Pelagic Species with best times from September through to March.

Use one of our Catamaran Yachts as a “Mothership” and charter a sport fishing boat from our partners at Fishing Zanzibar Co Ltd. This way the the fishermen all get to go out and catch lunch whilst the rest of the family and friends chill onboard or go swimming and snorkeling! Isn’t that what holidays are for?

Billfish

There are no less than six different types of Billfish to be found in the waters of Zanzibar and the Pemba Channel which lies just northwest of Nungwi! Consequently, your chances of catching at least 3 different types in a season are really good. In peak Marlin season, the bill fish move right up to the coast line to gorge themselves on the Tuna. Consequently this makes the north of Zanzibar very interesting for enthusiastic anglers. These fish show inexhaustible displays of strength and a chance at a personal best is very good.

Broadbill Swordfish

Here in Zanzibar fishing for Broadbill Swordfish would generally entail a night fishing trip and because you will be fishing from a liveaboard yacht this makes for the ideal circumstances.
During your night fishing charter, it is not unusual to have many strikes in a night although your fishing skills will determine how many of these powerful fish you can raise. Best times for Broadbill Swordfishing would be during the calm periods of March/April, Oct/November and the first 2 weeks of December.

Besides the Billfish there are huge Sharks (Mako, Tiger, Thresher and Hammerhead to name but a few)

Local Fishing

Close to shore along the west, north and east coast of Zanzibar, regular catches include Rainbow Runners, Bonito, Kingfish , Barracuda, Wahoo, Dorado and Sailfish.
